Biography
Vincent Wellens is a partner in NautaDutilh’s IP & Technology law practice. He represents major international clients on IP, trade practices, e-commerce, e-archiving and data protection (GDPR) issues in the consumer goods and ICT sectors. Vincent also actively supports our other practice areas, such as NautaDutilh’s banking & finance and funds departments with advice on IT outsourcing and archiving related issues for financial institutions.
Vincent is member of i.a. the Luxembourg association of IT professionals (APSI), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, the French-Luxembourg organisation of archiving professionals. He further is member of the board of the Benelux association for Trademark and Design Law. Vincent is the author of numerous publications and is regularly speaking at conferences and seminars. He leads a regular IP/IT-dedicated section in the Luxembourg business journal Agefi.
Vincent has received numerous awards recognizing his strong knowledge of IT and IP matters and for his experience in related disputes. Most recently, he won the “Client’s Choice Award” in the category IT and Internet law for Luxembourg. In the Chambers 2018 edition, clients appreciate his approach, reporting that he has the “skills to manage a big subject” and that “he shows a lot of integrity.” Sources also praise his commercial awareness, with one reporting: “He is very business-oriented in the way that he approaches the client and the way he explains the procedure. When he communicates his strategy he takes into account that he is representing a business and he is very pragmatic.”
Vincent was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2002 and to the Luxembourg Bar in 2007.
